So a lot of things have been going on in my little running world..so much that I almost completely forgot I’m running another 100 miler in 2 weeks. That is until I got the confirmation email in my inbox this afternoon that Sean had signed me up. Snap! March 3rd is a heck of lot closer than I realized. Week 1/30 training
Last week was full of great training..but now it’s time to lay the hammer down. No more runnin on easy street! Sorry to my subscribers who get a notification of a partially written post, but updating as I go is a great way to keep my training in check.
Mon what a beautiful day. I slept for 1.5 hours total last night. Pathetic! But somehow, I felt fine when I woke up.. must’ve been that sun shining! (I’m sure it will hit me later on! It’s usually the next day after an all nighter that I’ll feel like I’m dragging.) I already did both of my running workouts for the day. I had an awesome training partner for the first workout.:). Workout 1: 9 miles Yargo singletrack 1:18 (8:40 pace), Workout 2: 7 miles Harbins doubletrack :59 (8:25 pace).

Eating Like a Horse, Week 1/22, 100s, Back to Full Isolation Training(?)
Eating Like a Horse So today, ha, interesting. I woke up at 4:50 to run. My mom took the kids for the night- and a 4:50am run of 20 miles with 12 of that at a 7 flat pace, is the ideal date for me and my man. But when we got to the park to run, it was locked up with none of the street lights on. We brought headlamps, but it was way too foggy to see. So we opted for the roads, but decided that if it was too foggy for us to see, it would be hard for cars to see us as well. So we didn’t run. We were both pretty disappointed.(Probably me more than Daniel, because that was a key workout for me to miss.) & When I got home- that’s when all Hell broke lose, and calorie deficit hunger kicked in with a vengeance. Oh my gosh. I’m not kidding you! Seriously. I pretty much eat whatever the heck I want during heavy training, because I am usually in a calorie deficit, and what I crave isn’t bad stuff. But I have never put away this much food in such a short time frame. Let me tell you all that I’ve put into my body for the past 12 hours:

Wanted: BPR Training Partner
I’m a lone wolf, but I don’t always like it that way. Occasionally, I run with others, and I have several great running companions, and I love them all. But sometimes, you’re lucky enough to get that one person that just meets all of your running needs! My best training partner match is Beth Presten, but right now she is super extremely pregnant. Though she is still knocking out miles like they’re inches, she’s no longer speed training of course. While I’m training under Mr Jack, I need a chick to keep me accountable when it’s 3am, 16 degrees, and 20 miles at a tempo pace on my plate. So since I can’t have Beth for a few more months, here is my list of needs in a chick. She must meet ALL of the requirements!!
BP’s replacement qualifications:
1.) she got trail skills– aka- She must be a talented trail runner. BPR (beth presten replacement) must bomb down all hills without hesitation, climb without slowing, fly through switchbacks like she’s being chased, and have excellent footing even when dark! I Caved, but Not Quite..
All year I knew it was coming. I kept ignoring it as I ran the green trails in the golden sun, kept shoving it to the back of my mind, kept thinking it just wouldn’t be that bad, and then ((BAM!)) it happened. BRRRR. DECEMBER came! And it spanked me like a 4 year old in KMart!! For real y’all, I am NOT a cold weather chick. I run best when I am warm. Okay see- here are some examples of me NOT training in the cold. Take note of the huge smiles…

(Andd…The pictures of me running in the cold are miserable looking. So I’m not sharing those. Sorry bout your luck.) Continue reading “I Caved, but Not Quite..”
You Know..sometimes a day just SUCKS!!! Seriously.
“I’m havin a bad bad day, it’s about time that I get my way.”
It started out looking like it was going to be an awesome day. I was finally going to get my chance to run. I didn’t get to train at all over Christmas weekend due to being really sick, so I was more than looking forward to a run. What was even more exciting was that dan has promised me a good solid 6 hours of trail time while he kept the kids for me. SO PUMPED! So I got everything together for my run, bought some fuel, and headed towards the park. Whadya know- my brakes completely went out on my POC SUV!!! OMG. I was so scared. I was determined to make it to my run though, so I BARELY made it back home to switch to the mustang & made my way to the trails!

2012= Adventure Cravings
I have been mentally beaten up over the past month with some strange internal need to ditch running norms and explore some more adventurous run settings.

It started with a phone call between me and my favorite friend- Amber. Amber and I may as well be twins. We are pretty much the same creation- not only are we both blonde nature loving ultra distance chicks with kids, we both have the same desire to reject settling for the normal humdrum of life and for tackling it in our own unique way. Weve known each other since we were young, grew up in the same small town, but didn’t discover our similar passions until some long trail runs a couple years ago. Amber now lives far away, so we make it a point to have a good long deep conversation a few times a month. Last few months, we started talking about our need for getting lost in the wild- for soul searching, ditching a boxed in life for a bit and exploring creation. We mused about how we love the sun, and how awesome it would be to run some tropical trails, surf, swim, laugh, cry, play, grow, and run & run some more. This led to me emailing my uncle who lives in Ecuador inquiring about running some trails there. Which led to us trying to figure out how on earth we could get to Ecuador without totally interfering with our busy families’ lives, which led to ideas on advntures in the states, which lead to past dreams of running rim to rim to rim- which finally stopped the cycle. Rim to Rim to Rim it is??…
