All year I knew it was coming. I kept ignoring it as I ran the green trails in the golden sun, kept shoving it to the back of my mind, kept thinking it just wouldn’t be that bad, and then ((BAM!)) it happened. BRRRR. DECEMBER came! And it spanked me like a 4 year old in KMart!! For real y’all, I am NOT a cold weather chick. I run best when I am warm. Okay see- here are some examples of me NOT training in the cold. Take note of the huge smiles…

(Andd…The pictures of me running in the cold are miserable looking. So I’m not sharing those. Sorry bout your luck.)So December came, and it really wasn’t all that cold for the most part. Early December I killed AO in the warm temps, and then took back to Jack’s training knocking off training runs like they were nothin. Then Christmas approached, some rain settled in, and with it came a chill. BOO! The first pansy display came when I pushed snooze on my 4am alarm thinking “It’s too freakin cold. I’ll go later.” Then “later” came and it was still too freakin cold, so I just didn’t go. Yes yes.. I know.. I’m appalled too. Coming from the girl that says things like:
SHUT THE — UP & RUN
NO MATTER WHAT. I’M GOING.
& RUN OR DIE
& I’LL RUN THROUGH ANYTHING.. EVEN IF IT MIGHT KILL ME
& 150 MILES A WEEK OR ITS POINTLESS.
I know. Embarrassing. But that’s not the worst part. It happened again. Like 4 days in a row. And then I got struck with some massive sickness that was not even cool, and I couldn’t even. like.. MOVE… UGH. SHOOT ME. And then Christmas happened, and I got a fanny pack from my mother-in-law. Let me rewrite that.. I got a fanny pack from my mother -in-law.

So anyway. I became a super wimp, and only ran maybe half of my prescribed mileage for December. I mean, I didn’t suck all that bad- all things considered- I prob still ran more than the average marathoner- maybe like 60 a week- oh & a 100 on Dec 3. But Yeah, I turned into a loser. This week, however, all of that pathetic nonsense is about to change. I’m hitting the AT for several hours, skiing, knockin out a Q1 & Q2 (22 & 12 mile speed workouts) & track work and junk mileage in between all of that. Jack has me hittin around 110 next week.. feels high to me, though ironically 110 would have been a low week for me this past summer. (sucks to be me right now.)
So- think I’m gonna pansy out and slack next week, or am I gonna hit my workouts? I’m totally a wildcard here lately. 10 bucks on that I hit 80% & slack on my Q1. See even I’m betting against myself. BOOOO. Whatev. I’m going skiing.
