Climbing Class & Canyon Crave

Loved my first climbing/belaying class. It came pretty naturally, and I climbed to the top of my first wall quickly and easily.

I’m excited to go to the women’s class again next week! The cross training is great for both ultra running & for my training with Daniel. I get to work on my quad strength and my upper body pull strength for fun. So I’m happy I picked this as my “spinach” outlet! Of course- as with any sport I try- I’m sure I will dive in full force to be the best climber I can be. I’m geeky like that. (Plus I wanna get out and climb the real stuff!)

Today I got to get a quick chat in with Amber after I ran to the top of stone mountain.

My legs were a little tired from the 10miles prior, so I just sat up top and daydreamed for a minute. Got thinking about my adventure list- and then my phone rang! Perfect timing! We discussed booking flights, car, and camping for our R2R2R trip (yeah no hotel for these chicks). I told amber maybe we should do some climbing while we were in AZ.. and she was down, of course! I love how we think- always daydreaming about adventures, OR having them;) I love Amber!

7 Reasons I Ditched Facebook to Become a Better Runner

Just one of my many rants! I know everyone lives for FB, so don’t take it personally: this is just my experience speaking.

100 miles stuck in my heart!

I know I’ve said it a billion times..

But I can’t get over it.

I have a sick love for running long that I literally can feel in my gut. I think about it every day. I can’t ignore it. I don’t know what to do with it. So I’m just going to keep dealing with it the only way I know how- by running 100s!

Spinach.

Ancient Oaks 100 was an incredibly successful learning experience for me..
One thing that I took from it was that I need more “spinach”. Let me try to explain-

Wanted: BPR Training Partner

I’m a lone wolf, but I don’t always like it that way. Occasionally, I run with others, and I have several great running companions, and I love them all. But sometimes, you’re lucky enough to get that one person that just meets all of your running needs! My best training partner match is Beth Presten, but right now she is super extremely pregnant. Though she is still knocking out miles like they’re inches, she’s no longer speed training of course. While I’m training under Mr Jack, I need a chick to keep me accountable when it’s 3am, 16 degrees, and 20 miles at a tempo pace on my plate. So since I can’t have Beth for a few more months, here is my list of needs in a chick. She must meet ALL of the requirements!!

BP’s replacement qualifications:

1.) she got trail skills– aka- She must be a talented trail runner. BPR (beth presten replacement) must bomb down all hills without hesitation, climb without slowing, fly through switchbacks like she’s being chased, and have excellent footing even when dark! 5 Things You Don’t Need For Fitness

You just don’t need it. So stop wasting your money!

1.) Shape-ups, or any variation of the sort. These things are bogus! Come on girls, if your booty is bad out of shape enough, that you consider a platform moonboot to try to make it cute.. don’t you think it’s going to take more than a platform moonboot to make it cute? Simple fix? LUNGES. Lots of them. key word SIMPLE, not EASY. Also I just think Wayne is a sellout for putting his face on something as lame as this…

say it ain’t so, Wayne.

2.)Kettlebell. YUP. I said it. In the real legitimate realm of hard core high intensity fitness.. Not crossfit.. You will never find a Kettlebell. Why? Because there is not one exercise you can do with a kettle bell that you can’t do with a dumbbell. Kettlebells are a gimmick- encouraged by throngs of followers who have no clue what they’re really doing. People use them and feel like they’re doing something risqué fitness wise and that’s simply not the case. A kettlebell screams NEWBIE to the garage fitness realm. Use YOUR brain, and never follow.
