Hi.

I'm Ash Walsh.

I'm Ash Walsh.

I hate sitting still, so I adventure all over the Southeast with my partners in crime. I've finished ten 100 mile races over the last decade, amongst other stupid things. Sometimes I win, most of the time I just screw around and play in the dirt. Either way, I like to write about it. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, Dan, who is a total stud. And together we have two kids, Brett & Brooklyn. I currently host two sites: AshRuns100s.com is for my storytelling, and SideTrails.blog is my daily blog. Thanks for following my adventures!

If you know me, you know that I've had a lifelong passion of empowering women -- to live in freedom, to pursue adventure, to be strong, to live boldly, and even to escape dangerous life situations. Due to the things I, and people close to me, have experienced in life, my long-term goal has always been to create a safe place for women in crisis situations. Because of this, I'm super stoked to share this NEW running event for women: She Wolf Half Marathon & 10k! This event is ALL ABOUT empowering the ladies, and I couldn't be more excited! The road race will include a free 90 min self-defense course the night before, designed specifically for female runners. The swag bags will contain self-defense items, and the race will benefit a charity that assists women in crisis situations. It will also support female vendors and female owned small businesses. Stoked is an understatement. I hope you will join me and run or walk the half / 10k on April 22nd! Men, you're welcome to come too! šŸ’— Register here: The last few years have been unpredictable at best, but mountain running remains my steady constant. Getting older, sure, but faster & stronger than ever too. I raced the 74 mile #GDR yest and spent the entire day battling it out for the podium. 4 mi left, I was working to close in on 1st when 3rd came up behind me. Oh heck no!! I surged hard to put space between us… But then.. Swipe for the transformation.😁 Special day-- our 15yo son joined us for his first official mountain run! He loved it! I would be lying if I said I hadn't been praying for this moment for years. šŸ˜šŸ„°ā¤ Already planning the next run with my new training parter. 😁 11.5mi 3800ft gain #proudMum Back in 2013, I pulled out a piece of paper and wrote down an adventure bucket list. Amongst cooler things like Annapurna Circuit, I added "Finish 10 hundreds in 10 years". At the time I was in my 20s, had 4 hundreds under my belt, and didn't feel like it would be so much of a challenge. Just more of an accountability thing, and a way to aim for longevity. But as it does, life began to change, my kids grew, and my body grew tired of the constant damage. I lost interest in 100 milers somewhere around 2016. Despite that, I kept digging away at the silly goal bc I have a hard time letting go of things. After a couple years of injuries and dnfs, I finally accumulated 9 finishes. 2020 would be my last shot to get #10. But Covid happened of course, and cancelled my spring 100. I signed up for fall 100, Pinhoti, a month out from my deadline and hoped for the best for #10. I then spent the entire summer chasing down big solo mountain adventures and running myself into the ground out of boredom. "Excuse me, do you mind snapping a pic for us? ...we just ran 46 miles together across the Grand Canyon and back to celebrate 15 years of marriage, and we're kind of stoked about it." šŸ˜Šā¤ I thought I was turning 32 this weekend. False. I'm 33 now. Been a rough freaking year...but I'm still running.
