Hi.

I'm Ash Walsh.

I'm Ash Walsh.

I hate sitting still, so I adventure all over the Southeast with my partners in crime. I've finished ten 100 mile races over the last decade, amongst other stupid things. Sometimes I win, most of the time I just screw around and play in the dirt. Either way, I like to write about it. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, Dan, who is a total stud. And together we have two kids, Brett & Brooklyn. Thanks for following my adventures!

Not running for awhile as I recover from a particularly nasty mountain running injury... Clinging to singletrack daydreams and cross training like a mad woman till I'm on the other side of this bs!💪 Hope you all are doing well and kicking life in the teeth! 😁
Special day-- our 15yo son joined us for his first official mountain run! He loved it! I would be lying if I said I hadn't been praying for this moment for years. 😭🥰❤ Already planning the next run with my new training parter. 😁 11.5mi 3800ft gain #proudMum
Back in 2013, I pulled out a piece of paper and wrote down an adventure bucket list. Amongst cooler things like Annapurna Circuit, I added "Finish 10 hundreds in 10 years". At the time I was in my 20s, had 4 hundreds under my belt, and didn't feel like it would be so much of a challenge. Just more of an accountability thing, and a way to aim for longevity. But as it does, life began to change, my kids grew, and my body grew tired of the constant damage. I lost interest in 100 milers somewhere around 2016. Despite that, I kept digging away at the silly goal bc I have a hard time letting go of things. After a couple years of injuries and dnfs, I finally accumulated 9 finishes. 2020 would be my last shot to get #10. But Covid happened of course, and cancelled my spring 100. I signed up for fall 100, Pinhoti, a month out from my deadline and hoped for the best for #10. I then spent the entire summer chasing down big solo mountain adventures and running myself into the ground out of boredom.
Spent the entire summer crushing mountains and running solo ultras. No rules, rhyme, or reason. It was magical.
Running in late Spring on The AT is pure life. The trail is finally awake and alert after a long sleep, and I feel it deeply. I swear my actual soul somehow interlocks with the elements while I move through these mountains. Feels like fire coursing through my veins. Like a secret between God and me.. A gift. "Runners high" doesnt even come close to describing it. 💚 #gsmnp
Long talk with God ...and some high quality mountain running thrown in for good measure. 😜 Far cry from Saturday's ice and snow. Loved it.
